Roses in art

Celestial, an alba rose dating from the middle ages. There are alba roses in Botticelli's 'The Birth of Venus'

William Morris, a David Austin English rose. William Morris also painted roses.

OOh, these are just gorgeous and I can imagine their otherworldly fragrance. I thought that Alba roses were always white? Hope all is well with you and it's nice to find you still posting. Take care and greetings from what is left of Northern Cal.

Celestial is really pretty - I can well understand why it's often depicted in art! And William Moris is a very handsome gentleman!
