Salix, I've only seen heather as a potted plant - both Northern Illinois and Central Texas are too alkaline for it to grow well in the ground. Your white-flowered one in the photo looks so pretty, and reminds me of the old show-tune about "The Heather on The Hill."

came upon your blog through DigInDirt! your pics & background colors & images are gorgeous! i take it you may be having a warm winter as well! it's after dark here in nj, usa, and it's 60 degrees! tomorrow it'll be 70 or higher! again, your pics are beautiful!
OH, what are the caterpillar doing there NOW? Very strange. I think the whole worlds weather and nature has gone crazy.
