Foggy

The mornings are thick with fog recently, it's so quiet.

Impatiens, Chamomile and Ash

My indoor flowers are blooming nicely, these impatiens looking rosy and glowing.

In the path is chamomile, blooming and releasing its wonderful scent as you pass it. There is a rare yellow leaf lying on the stepping stone. The color of trees this year is dissapointing in my area. Leaves seem to be staying green, or just turning brown and falling.

My young ash is still green, it grew well this year, I had trimmed its branches in early spring in hope it would fill out a bit more. I grew this on from a 6 inch bare root seedling, which I got from someone in a tree parade in Dublin a few years ago. The seedling spent a few hours in a glass of water in a pub before I wrapped it in a napkin to take home with me.

apples and webs

My last apple fell off the tree today, it was the biggest one. So I will be making stewed apples very soon, I'll have to add a few apples from the local veggie shop.

Berries

We bought this pyracantha when we first moved here. It didn't have berries last year, but this year, it looks pretty nice. It's a fast growing shrub, I'm hoping to take cuttings, and have a row of them along the wall.

My mystery "monster" plant, the Himalayan Honeysuckle. It's growing some interesting berries now.

Orange begonia cuttings, from my Mom's garden. I love the color of these.

Orchids, given to me by my neighbor from the old house, as a good bye gift. I was a bit afraid of taking care of this, I thought they were so fragile and needed special care. But it's blooming like crazy, even better now than when I first had it! And I don't do anything special, treat it like my other house plants.

My first hot pepper I ever grew! And my son took it !! ;-)
He wasn't going to be here for dinner for 2 weeks or so, and there were more peppers just turning red. He loves the hot ones. I'll have to ring him and see if it was hot enough.

Cool days, October blooms

There are still a lot of flowers blooming in the cooler weather...Cyclamen, a pretty spotted one, it smells lovely!

Beautiful anemone, they were just leaves in a pot earlier in the year, my neighbor was throwing it away, so I rescued it. Isn't it just so pretty?

Lupin arboreus is blooming again. I think it likes the cool weather. It's a beauty, a giant evergreen bush.

Verbena, some free seeds that came with a garden magazine.

And wild poppies are still blooming here and there.

Autumn Nasturtiums

I found these blooms hiding inbetween the orange nasturtiums. I must go and mark them so I can be sure to save the seed for these! Just had to bring a few inside for me to enjoy.

Monster Plant

Can anyone identify this plant? My neighbor gave it to me, she had too many of them. She called it her "Monster Plant", since hers are growing quite large. It looks a lot like the Euonymus on my Green Dreaming blog. Maybe a different variety?
Pretty though, and the flowers are crazy-looking.
It's been identified at BBC message board by a nice person named Sara. It's called Leycesteria Formosa (Himalayan Honeysuckle) It will grow to be over 6 ft. tall! I think it may be in the wrong spot!

Trouble! Faeries create havoc in the garden!
This past summer, on Daughter of the Soil's blog, she wrote about faeries stealing the gold tread she marked certain plants with. I loved the image I imagined it to be, and finally got around to create it.

Salix Caprea buds

My family got me this little willow, Salix Caprea, earlier in the year. Willow is my favorite tree! I noticed the other day, there are huge buds appearing in a beautiful color of yellow and orange.

Mushrooms in the Grass

Mushrooms sprout everywhere in the grass. These are the same mushrooms several days apart.

Rocket Scientist

I was picking rocket from my garden yesterday, when this image popped into my head, so I Photoshopped it this morning.
I love rocket (arugula), and it's so easy to grow, and yummy too. It's seeding itself all over! You don't need to be a scientist to grow this stuff!

Radish strawberries

How odd, there are strawberries growing in the radish patch.. completely out of season! They rooted themselves here earlier in the year, and seeing all these red round things growing, thought it was time to also grow red round things! Strawberries that think they are radishes.. tee hee!

sunflowers and honeysuckle-berries

Late-planted sunflowers are blooming now, tall and slender, waving in the wind. They greet us from behind the wall, as we approach our house, waving thier cheery "hello!"

Honeysuckle berries glow in the shade of the back wall.. adding a bright bit of color that makes me smile as I stand at the kitchen sink, washing dishes.
